Susan Casebeer
Colorado State University

Susan Casebeer is in her fourth year in the Interior Design program at CSU in Fort Collins and is scheduled to graduate in May 2012.  It has been a long journey (literally and figuratively) for Susan who has commuted over 90,000 miles from her home in Carbondale to attend classes in Fort Collins and who has gone from knowing nothing about computers to becoming  proficient in a variety of software applications.  Susan, who, at age 51, decided to pursue her lifelong interest of interior design after losing her twin sister, brother and mother within an 18 month period, is grateful for the support she received from faculty and her mostly younger fellow students as she initially struggled with using a mouse and other aspects of computer technology.  In fact, had she known what awaited her; she probably wouldn’t have signed-up for the program!  Now, just 3 ½ years later, Susan has taken on the responsibility of planning the graduation activities for the Interior Design class of 2012 as she works towards the completion of her remaining classes and capstone project.   And for Susan, graduation will represent the capstone of a truly inspirational story and yet another new beginning.

After graduation, Susan is looking forward to reacquainting herself with friends and family in the Roaring Fork Valley, where she hopes to find a design position.

Congratulations Susan on being chosen as the Student of the Quarter!
