Blessed with a limitless imagination, an innate eye for beauty and a design aesthetic brimming with soul and stylish sophistication, Kristi Dinner’s professional experience as an interior designer of residential and commercial spaces spans more than 25 years.

In 1994, she founded company kd, llc an award-winning, full-service interior design firm that specializes in luxury residential living spaces. Since then, she and her team have created some of the best-dressed interiors in the country, all marked by their captivating color palettes, timeless allure and vibrant personalities.

An avid global traveler with a passion for exploring other cultures, Dinner is adept at sourcing the best fittings from around the world to make each living space inviting, personal and unique. While her interiors are designed to provoke the spirit, quicken the pulse and rouse the imagination, she takes great pride in ensuring that they are also functional, comfortable and accurately reflect her clients’ experiences, needs and lifestyles.

Dinner has re-imagined the visual landscape on a diverse array of award-winning projects. Under her leadership, company kd has received several industry awards from venerable organizations such as The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and the Colorado Awards for Remodeling Excellence (CARE).

The firm’s work has also been featured in a variety of national publications such as Home, Women’s Day and Better Homes and Gardens as well as regional publications including 5280 and Colorado Homes & Lifestyles.

Prior to launching her Denver-based firm, Dinner honed her skills in Los Angeles working with Tosh Yamashita, an internationally recognized designer who was the creative inspiration behind the interiors of Neiman Marcus and Gump’s of San Francisco. While in Los Angeles, she also spent several years lending her versatile creativity to various film and television projects as a set decorator.

She received her graduate degree from The New York School of Interior Design and is currently an Allied Member of the American Society of Interior Designers.

She is particularly proud of her Mediterranean bungalow home in Congress Park that her maternal grandparents built in 1928, the year they were engaged. She shares her home with her beloved dog Lulu and spirited cat Matisse.

This compact Congress Park kitchen is infused with bold and happy hues of color. The red lacquer cabinets combined with the apple green and white tile give the space a cheerful punch. The tile’s basket weave pattern supplies contemporary energy, while the Carrara marble conveys the vintage elegance of the home’s 1920’s roots.
A contemporary kitchen renovation offers the owners a culinary haven with improved flow, added workspace and storage. The new island provides more prep space, while an array of new white cabinetry featuring glass inserts provides ample storage without appearing bulky.  The striking diamond-patterned hardwood floor stain adds interest while blending easily with the honey wood throughout the home. The backsplash tile playfully mimics the new ceiling coffers that reflect the homes 1925 architecture.
This Denver Hilltop kitchen blends Mediterranean-style with modern overtones to create a family friendly space. Mixing old-world style with clean, contemporary lines results in the perfect compromise between old and new.
An admiration for Japanese architecture and design provided inspiration for this Denver Congress Park kitchen.  The material choices of woods, tile patterns and cabinet design details all speak to this client’s love of Japanese design. The custom shoji panels open onto a beautifully landscaped Japanese garden.
This custom banquette was designed to accommodate a growing family. The banquette was painted a custom color to embody the French Country design aesthetic found throughout the rest of the home.  The banquette wraps around the circular breakfast table to create a focal point in the breakfast nook.
Inspiration for this custom banquette was drawn from the original Arts & Crafts style. The table is also a custom design mixing contemporary and ethnic elements which balance nicely with the bold chandelier. This space has now become the central gather place of the home.
The active family in this charming 1912 home sought a functional breakfast eating area adjacent to the kitchen and butler’s pantry. The solution was a built-in banquette with drawers in the benches.  The traditional styling and molding are consistent with the home’s century-old aesthetic.
This space-saving kitchen banquette mixes bold seat cushions and pillows with an antique table. A whimsical chandelier over the table features gems, stones and personal mementos collected by the owners and both electric light and votive candles.
The inspiration for this light filled spacious master bathroom was a favorite hotel of the clients’ located on a beach front in Santa Monica, CA.
The small size of this master bathroom required the design team to get creative. New black and white tile work provides a bright back drop for a custom curved vanity which was finished in a dark espresso stain. Antique glass sconces were selected to keep with 1920’s design throughout the home.
A watery color pattern of glass tile in the steam shower combined with crisp white trim and cabinetry create a refreshing, soothing and tranquil space.
The clients wanted a bathroom with a masculine feel but with feminine touches. Painted dark molding and casework provide the masculine element. The use of white marble with sensual veins and detailed black and white mosaic floor adds a feminine touch to the bath. Using classic materials, combined with exquisite details created a luxurious and dramatic space.
The clients desired a clean, simple but warm aesthetic for their master bath. A mix of dark woods, handmade white ceramic tiles and a pale green palette create a serene and elegant space. The custom vanity, inspired by a French furniture piece, serves as the focal point of the room and provides ample storage.
To make the best use of space, this custom designed storage cabinet holds a variety of linens.
The client’s prized watch collection is beautifully showcased in custom designed, velvet lined storage drawer.
Soft hues and traditional furniture compliment the French country feeling that this house evokes. A lot of attention was paid in both the drapery design and upholstery details.
Inspired by a bold patterned fabric the client had been holding on to, this space has rich, saturated colors that creates a dramatic one of a kind space for the homeowners.
The living room of this 1929 Mediterranean bungalow has dark espresso-stained floors and understated celadon colored walls. A large commissioned art piece hanging on the wall was the color inspiration for the furnishing and design elements found within the space. The eclectic aesthetic of the room comes from combining the home owners collected treasures, custom design pieces and beautifully upholstered furniture pieces.
The long narrow space of this Frank Lloyd Wright living room presented a space planning challenge for the clients. The designers met the challenge by designing custom benches in each of the corners of the room, thereby creating three separate gathering areas. The color palette was inspired by both the client’s artwork and research done into other projects done by Frank Lloyd Wright.
Striking blue walls combined with rich pomegranate colored accents and artwork make this guest room cheerful, relaxing and inviting.
This private residential space is tucked away here and has the feeling of a New York Pied à Terre or simply a special weekend getaway. The upholstered bed wall, sophisticated furnishings and soft blue hues combined with chocolate tones create a hotel like feeling in the space.
This young girl’s room started with her mother’s hand me down furniture and became a reflection of her own personality with the apple green painted walls and soft flowing drapery. Great details such as the delicate pink glass chandelier and ballet slippers add to the character of the space.
This master bedroom is a fun and girly retreat. The color palette of the space is lavender with accents of mint green. The custom upholstered head board features soft curved lines and acts as the focal point of the room.
This dining room has a fun, eclectic spark filled with energy and playfulness. The room is a comfortable haven full of strong colors and bold textures that envelop all of the senses. Various-sized dining chairs help to achieve an Old World, farmhouse feel that is both inviting and uniquely different.
This home offers a fresh breath of youthfulness. The big, bold colors with the lively artwork and lush fabrics help to create a fun and exciting living and dining room. The custom built-in shelving offers a physical break between the two spaces allowing for different color schemes in each area. The flush of lilac in the dining room and the dark, electric pink in the living room work together because they are in the same tonal range and the bookcase divider provides plenty of display as well as much-needed storage.
Deep espresso stained floors and a rich, ocean blue wall color give this dining room a vibrant, colorful sensibility. A custom commissioned Murano glass chandelier hangs above the dining table while a fretwork of paintings cover the walls. This eclectic mix of furniture, art and objects give the space a sense of history and a soothing sense of home.
The use of rich colors and textures fill this Mid-Century home with a warm atmosphere. Custom Zebra wood built-ins provide extra storage for the client’s dish and barware.
The sitting room of this charming 1912 home welcomes visitors as they enter. The color palette and finishes creates an warm and inviting atmosphere throughout the space. The brick of the fireplace is original and was previously painted over. The homeowner unearthed the brick during the remodel and everyone loved it so much it had stay.
The sitting room of this Denver bungalow was given a fresh look with custom “floating” storage, a watery color palette and contemporary furniture.

A once unused space adjacent to this Arts and Crafts home’s entry has now become a beautiful and functional sitting room.  Drapery and a beautiful rug help to soften the enhanced architectural detailing.  The furnishings are simple but strong.
This study/home office has beautifully detailed walnut paneled walls and built-in bookcases throughout.  The fireplace surround is created from antique French tiles seamlessly blending old and new.
The goal of this home office was to create a space where this couple, one who is neat and one who is messy, would be able to work together harmoniously. The desk is a contemporary update of the traditional partner’s desk, mixing zebra wood and steel elements. The dark wood of the built-ins and wall contrast beautifully against the sky blue wallpaper behind the shelves.
This small powder bath makes a big statement with bold, large-scale patterned wallpaper.  Small crystal pendants above the vanity add just a touch of sparkle to this lively, little space.
This powder room features an antique dresser turned vanity, terra cotta floor tiles, handmade blue subway tiles and blue + cream French wallpaper giving it a gracious feel for guests to enjoy.
This Zen powder bath is a dramatic shade of red lacquer, reminiscent of fire. An asymmetrical rock wall provides the space with texture and interest, an important principle in Zen design. The vanity showcases the grain of the wood enhancing its beauty and connecting the space to the natural world. Creativity and imagination abound in this small space.
This small powder room makes a big statement with the help of graphic floral wallpaper, a leather tiled wall and free standing vanity.
This house was built from plans by Frank Lloyd Wright and we enhanced the space with new built-in shelving and custom ottomans inspired by the architect. The new built-ins and millwork blend beautiful with the homes original fire place tiles.
The traditional bungalow style is combined with modern artwork and lighting fixtures. The fireplace features glass tiles in a rainforest, watery color palette.
The unusual design for this fireplace was inspired by the vast volume of space created by the cathedral ceiling. The wood panel doors hide the TV and stereo equipment. The two sided firebox is seen from both the living room and the home office on the other side.
This design combines the warmth of zebra and walnut woods with the coolness of the floating stainless mantel, smooth limestone and graphic quality of handmade tiles.
Custom Japanese inspired built-in cabinetry provides extra storage and display while adding architectural interest to the space.
Bold upholstery fabrics and curved lines make this built-in window seat fresh and interesting while still being functional and elegant.

This kitchen was part of a whole house remodel for a chemically sensitive family. The spacious kitchen was designed using chemically sensitive and environmentally friendly finishes.
Custom cubbies in the mudroom were designed to accommodate storage for each member of the family.
The fireplace features repurposed standing-seamed metal roofing for an unexpected yet innovative design finish.
Each of the client’s sons choose the color direction of their room but all the rooms were unified using bright yellow marmoleum flooring and white trim throughout.
The custom painted armoires and shelving give this upscale stationery and invitation boutique, a New York- style aesthetic. Details such as the painted black floor featuring hand painted script and the elegant glass chandelier that mimics twisted ribbons can be found throughout the space.
French furnishings in stylish black and white with accents of fuchsia pink and emerald green accentuate the upstairs bridal suite.
In the renovation of an upscale stationery store the owners desired a roof-top deck. With spectacular views and a relaxing atmosphere the outdoor living space has become one of the owners’ favorite features of the renovated space.
Innovative design solutions included the outdoor furniture upholstered in brightly color fabrics and copper panel-topped pergola with garden terrace.
